Snap Shots & Talkr Visitor Enhancements
By bpace | July 8, 2007
I use a tool on this site called Snap Shots that enhances links with visual previews of the destination site, interactive excerpts of Wikipedia articles, MySpace profiles, IMDb profiles and Amazon products, display inline videos, RSS, MP3s, photos, stock charts and more.
Sometimes Snap Shots bring you the information you need, without your having to leave the site, while other times it lets you “look ahead,” before deciding if you want to follow a link or not. Snap Shots supports my desire to provide you with as much visual information as possible while you are on this site.
Should you decide this is not for you, just click the Options icon in the upper right corner of the Snap Shot and opt-out. If you are interested in adding this functionality to your own site just click on the Snap Shots badge in this post.
I also use a tool called Talkr that allows visitors to listen to my text-based blog posts by quickly and easily downloading an mp3 file using the Talkr link beneath each post. Visitors may also subscribe to my Talkr RSS feed using any feedreader.
This feed can be added to most podcatching software such as iTunes or Juice. To subscribe to my Talkr text-to-podcast feed drag the Talkr icon in this post or on any page within this site into your podcatcher. Talkr allows subscribers to access the content of new posts on the go and also levels the blogosphere for the visually impaired.
I hope these enhancements help make it as easy as possible for us to communicate about how we handle changes in educational technology.
God Bless!
